Homemade Yogurt
Let’s make a thick and creamy homemade yogurt in 8 easy steps!
Homemade Turkish yogurts generally have a sour taste and I really don’t like them all. Thankfully, my mom does exactly the way I like it, a yogurt that does not fluid, sour, and most importantly, not contains millions of additives. If we were in the same city, I would knock her door every week, kidnap all the yogurts and eat them with a pinch of mint. Or I’d combine it with fresh fruits and a drizzle of honey on top! Mmh…
On the last face-call with my mom, she showed me how to make yogurt step by step and shared all the tricks so that I’ve made a successful homemade yogurt even it was my first try.
Now, I am sharing with you all the details, so you can make your own super-creamy yogurt at home!
Let’s see how easy to make homemade yogurt is!
Ingredients
• 2 kilograms of full-fat daily fresh milk
• 3 tablespoons probiotic yogurt / I use 115g Activia natural yogurt
Method
1. Place milk in a large saucepan over medium-high heat.
2. Cook until it comes to a boil.
3. Remove pan from the heat and let cool to 115 degrees.
If you don’t have a thermometer there is another way to measure the right temperature; Finger Test! As my mom does. So, after waiting for milk around 15 mins to cool, place your little finger inside the milk, It should be still hot and bites your finger but not as much to burn. If you feel the biting, you’re ready to ferment.
4. Pour Activia yogurt in a bowl.
I use Activia because it is probiotic, so it contains good bacteria.

5. Add 2-3 spoons of milk into the yogurt bowl and whisk until it foams.
6. Put one tablespoon of yeast at the bottom of the glass cup/s that you have separated for yogurt.
After dividing the yeast into the bottom of your cups, pour the leftover into milk and mix.
7. Divide the milk into your cup/s.
You can portion it out into individual serving cups or in one big cup.
8. Wrap your cups with things that will keep the temperature, such as a blanket or pullover, and set your alarm after 6 hours.
6 hours later you will have super-thick, creamy yogurts!
Refrigerate your uncovered yogurts about 30 minutes to cool and they will get even thicker!
Enjoy it at your breakfast or as a side dish with your meal!
